Art Hotel – Design’s Delicate Power: 2016, 2018
Diverse – often opposing – historical and architectural influences come together in Art Hotel.
The artist preserves the ambiance of the place while experimenting with elements of matter. As a result, we get a combination of conceptual work of the designer with a self-made work
performed on thousands of pieces.
The artist professes that the classics and noble materials will always defend themselves. The designer focuses on durability and recycling at the same time – she brings back to life polychromatic boards found on the walls or ceilings; repairs and exposes structure-bearing elements, staircases, and elevator shafts; she creates cozy gardens in the hotel patios. All of that is a timeless material, not just an evanescent retro decoration. Renata Micherda-Jarodzka attains completeness through hand-painted wallpapers, textiles, chandeliers, furniture, and designs of carpets, bathroom tiles, curtains, and doorknobs.
The peculiar vibe of this place attracts not only guests, conferences, and businesses, but also film directors like “The Winner” (“Wygrany”) starring Janusz Gajos. It also managed to convince the Registry Office to give weddings in the hotel. The artist’s comprehensive thinking and conscientiousness were recognized and got her the 1st Degree Ministerial Award for outstanding creative achievements and the title of the Most Beautiful Interior of the Year in the Society of Wrocław Afcionado’s (Towarzystwo Miłośników Wrocławia) Contest. For her Art Restaurant, Renata received the Media Success & Warsaw Fashion Street award for Trendy Place of 2009 and the 2nd Award in The Lower Silesian Building of the Year (“Dolnośląska Budowa Roku”) contest.
